MIMI
Calico Quiet Queen
3 year old, spayed, female
Available
For adoption anywhere in the UK
For years, Mimi lived in a street colony where she was known simply as the good girl — gentle, polite, and endlessly patient. Our rescue team used to say, “One day, it’ll be Mimi’s turn.” Then she disappeared, as colony cats sometimes do, and we feared the worst. But weeks later she reappeared, as if to say, “Right then, where were we?” That was the moment we knew it was finally time to bring her in from the harsh streets.
She’s around three years old, and now fully settled into foster life and adored by everyone who meets her. Shortly after rescue, she passed a kidney stone — unpleasant, of course, but the moment it was gone, Mimi returned to her soft, social, affectionate self. All her tests are clear; she is healthy, happy, and thriving.
Mimi never bites or scratches in aggression — not once. At most, during play or a moment of overstimulation, she may offer the gentlest little nip, the kind a polite cat gives to say, “Steady on.” And then, as if to apologise, she comes straight back for more pets. Her manners are impeccable.
She’s a simple-joys sort of girl. She loves entertaining herself with toys on the floor — soft toys, balls, feathers, anything that rolls or wiggles. Her scratch pad is her personal gym, especially the rope ball, which gets a thorough workout. Wand toys, however, remain under review. She’ll engage if the feather stays put, but none of that frantic swooshing, thank you very much — a lady prefers a more dignified pace.
She isn’t keen on being picked up but has become noticeably more tolerant with time, especially when she suspects the interaction may lead to affection. Once she trusts you, she’ll come sit next to you, curl up against you for TV time, and enjoy long, gentle cuddles on her terms.
Her sleeping habits are delightfully quirky. Despite being affectionate all day, Mimi insists on sleeping in the living room, in her special bed that she has claimed as her royal chambers. She prefers her foster parents to have the bedroom to themselves… for now. Calicos are known to change their minds as often as the British weather.
She’s friendly with visitors, comfortable around people, and may do well in a calm home with older, respectful children. She never meows at night, but she will greet you with a soft little chirp when you enter a room — the feline equivalent of “Oh hello, you’re back.”
After years of being overshadowed in the colony, Mimi is finally ready to be someone’s centre of attention. She is gentle, sweet-natured, undemanding, and beautifully easy to love — the kind of cat who slips quietly into your life and makes it warmer without you even noticing.
If you’re looking for a soft, affectionate companion with a little sparkle, excellent manners, and a heart that’s waited far too long for a safe place to land, Mimi is waiting for you.
