Some cats keep you guessing. Not Big Mo.

What you see is exactly what you get: a great big heart, an even bigger appetite, and two enormous eyes that will have you handing over cuddles before you have even taken your coat off.

Meet Big Mo, our big, softhearted boy with an even bigger love for people. We first met him at a cat colony when he wasn’t feeling quite himself, and once he’d had the care he needed, it became clear that this sweet lad would be far happier, and safer, living the good life indoors.

He’s called Big Mo for good reason: he’s a large gentleman, and rather proud of it. But it’s really his face that steals the show. Those big, round, soulful eyes (think Puss in Boots, minus the sword) will melt you on the spot, especially paired with the little white patches on his paws that look for all the world like he’s wearing socks.

A Fully Qualified Cuddle Connoisseur

Mo is a total cuddle bug. He wants to be close, he wants a fuss, and he is more than happy to hand kisses back in return. Pick him up, hold him, settle in for an afternoon on the sofa together: Mo will happily stay put for as long as you’ll have him, watching, listening and generally taking part in whatever you’re doing, so long as he isn’t eating or snoozing in a sunbeam, which, to be fair, accounts for a fair portion of his day.

Quintessentially Mo

Like most big personalities, Mo has his quirks. He’s a committed foodie who is currently on a diet, though that has never once stopped him trying his luck for an extra bite. He strikes hilarious poses that will send you scrambling for your camera, wriggles in adorably clumsily for more attention, and has a deep and abiding love of cardboard boxes of absolutely any size or shape. Give him a box and a sunny windowsill, and as far as Mo is concerned, that’s the whole day sorted.

Health

Big Mo has a couple of health notes worth sharing. He has stomatitis, meaning he occasionally gets flare ups in his gums; these are managed with gel and medication as and when needed, and he continues to live comfortably and happily in between. Mo is also FIV positive (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). This simply means his immune system needs a little extra looking after, but cats with FIV can live long, healthy and happy lives, particularly in a loving, calm, indoor home.

His Ideal Home

Given his size, Mo would do best somewhere with a bit of room to stretch out and make himself comfortable. Beyond that, he's a proper all rounder who would slot happily into family life and a normal, everyday household. He would be perfectly suited to someone who works from home or is simply around often: he'll happily be your shadow, your entertainment and your constant source of affection.

He would happily suit:

• A family or household with a bit of room for a big lad to spread out.

• Someone working from home, or simply around for much of the day, to enjoy his company.

• A loving home ready to welcome a big, affectionate personality into everyday family life.

Children: Not yet tested, though given his gentle, easygoing nature we’d expect him to enjoy calm, respectful company.

Indoor home: Strictly indoor home only.

Other cats: Ideally the only cat

Dogs: Not yet tested, but happy to consider the right calm, cat loving dog with a proper introduction.

Food: Currently on a vet guided weight management plan, though he will always vote for a little extra if you let him.

Rescue Story

Big Mo’s story starts at a cat colony, where he turned up looking a little under the weather. Once he’d had the veterinary care and attention he needed, it was clear that colony life was never really the plan for him. Mo is far better suited to soft beds, steady meals and sunbeams through a window, and these days that is exactly what he gets.
