DAFFY & TIGER

Some cats arrive as a double act. Daffy and Tiger are very much that, although nobody appears to have told them they are supposed to have matching personalities.

These two 10-year-old boys are affectionate, quiet and rather fond of the slower things in life. Their perfect day involves plenty of sleeping, strategically timed appearances when food is involved and the occasional burst of zoomies just to prove they have still got it.

Tiger is the snuggler of the partnership. He may be shy and skittish when he first finds himself somewhere new, but once he trusts you, prepare to surrender your lap. And possibly your bed. He loves sitting on laps and chests, investigating newly opened deliveries and enjoying short bursts of play with a wand toy.

Daffy is the braver, more stoic member of the duo. Described as something of an old soul, he is happiest with a cosy spot of his own, preferably somewhere warm near a window. He enjoys chin and ear scratches but is less keen on full-body strokes. Daffy knows his boundaries and, if you miss the memo, may give a gentle bite to let you know that cuddle time is officially over.

Both boys are very food motivated and feeding time is not a subtle affair. They can be loud and persistent when dinner is due, so you are unlikely to accidentally forget it.

They are also sensitive to loud noises such as doorbells and vacuum cleaners and can be skittish around new environments. Their new family will need to give them time, patience and somewhere safe to hide while they settle in.

Medical

No prominent known medical issues have been reported, though as with any senior cats, they will benefit from good quality food, attentive care and regular health monitoring going forward.

Their Perfect Family

Daffy and Tiger would suit a relatively calm home with people who understand that confidence sometimes takes a little time.

They need a family who will allow them to settle at their own pace rather than expecting instant cuddles. Once Tiger feels safe, his affectionate side really comes through, while Daffy will happily become part of family life while maintaining a little more independence.

Essentially, they are looking for people who appreciate the finer things in life: naps, snacks, warm windows and respecting personal space.

Kids

Because they can become skittish around loud noises and unfamiliar people, a calmer household would be preferable.

Indoor or Outdoor: Indoor only.

They will need a secure indoor home with plenty of comfortable resting spots, hiding places and ideally a sunny window or two for Daffy to supervise the neighbourhood from a respectable distance.

Other Cats

Daffy and Tiger are being rehomed together and already share their lives with one another.

Their suitability with additional cats would need to be discussed further.

Dogs: preferably no

Food

These gentlemen appreciate a well-run dining schedule.

Breakfast: approximately 7:45am

Dinner: approximately 7:45pm

They currently eat:

• Royal Canin Feline Satiety kibble, approximately 25g each

• Applaws Tuna & Seaweed wet food, approximately a quarter of a tin each

• Churus and Lily's Kitchen treats

Rescue Story

Daffy and Tiger's story began many years ago in the same park, where they lived together as part of a colony cared for by a dedicated carer who came to know them both extremely well.

Tiger was around eight months old when the carers first met him in the colony. He earned his name honestly, having a habit of hiding in the bushes and leaping out at anyone, cat, dog or human, who dared approach his patch. Fearless and fiercely protective of his territory, "Tiger" fitted him rather well.

Daffy arrived in the colony sometime later, initially settling in the middle of the group and moving restlessly from spot to spot. That changed the moment he found Tiger. The two became firm friends, and Daffy finally stopped wandering, choosing instead to stay wherever Tiger was. His name came from the sound he made when he first turned up, a distinctive quack, paired with a thin, angular little face that gave him a bill-like look reminiscent of a certain Looney Tunes character.

Their bond was put to the test one day when Tiger went missing from the colony for several days. Each morning, Daffy would lead his carer over to a nearby building, clearly trying to tell her something. Sure enough, Tiger eventually appeared on a balcony, unable to get himself down, and had to be rescued with the help of building security. Without Daffy's persistence, Tiger might have been stuck up there indefinitely.

After years by each other's side in the colony, these two distinguished gentlemen are now looking for the one thing they have never had: a proper home of their own, together, for whatever years they have left.
