Mimi and Sassy are a bonded pair of pure-bred British Shorthair girls who are now looking for a calm, permanent home together. They were rescued from an illegal breeding environment where their welfare had been seriously neglected, and they arrived into care frightened, depleted and very much in need of both medical attention and emotional reassurance.

The past four months in foster care have quietly transformed their world. With safety, routine and a great deal of patience, they have begun to rebuild trust and confidence at their own pace. Throughout this journey, their bond with one another has been constant and essential. It is how they settle, how they feel safe, and how they continue to make progress.

These are not cats who rush into new situations or demand attention. They form connections slowly and thoughtfully, preferring predictable routines and gentle surroundings. In the right environment, they thrive in their own understated way.

Their days follow a simple, reassuring rhythm. Much of the time is spent resting in carefully chosen safe spaces, watching household life from a comfortable distance and grazing on dry food throughout the day. Wet food is served morning and evening, a routine both girls appreciate and look forward to.

Sassy is usually the first to emerge. She will quietly explore her surroundings, investigate shoes with mild curiosity, or enjoy a gentle play session at her scratch post. Mimi prefers to observe from afar, taking everything in before deciding when it feels right to join in. When she does, it is always calm, considered and on her terms. Their progress continues steadily, always together and always at their own pace.

Sassy is the more confident of the pair. She is gently playful, extremely food motivated and possesses an impressively loud purr once she decides you are worthy of trust. She enjoys affection when she is ready for it and will seek out snuggles, though sudden movements can still send her retreating to reassess the situation.

Mimi is far more timid and sensitive. She spends a good deal of time in hiding and can be nervous, but she does enjoy gentle strokes and quiet company when she feels safe. Her confidence has grown slowly and steadily, particularly when Sassy is close by, offering silent reassurance.

Neither Mimi nor Sassy enjoys being picked up or carried, and neither is a lap cat. Their affection is subtle rather than demonstrative, but deeply rewarding for those willing to let it unfold naturally.

Medically, both girls are generally healthy and do best when life remains predictable. They have sensitive digestion which is managed successfully on Royal Canin food only. Mimi can experience runny stools if there are changes to food or routine. She also has a flat face and drinks in an unusual manner, sometimes lifting water with her paw, which can be a little messy but is easily managed. Neither cat requires any ongoing medication, and full veterinary records are available.

Mimi and Sassy are looking for a quiet, patient household that understands recovery takes time. They would be best suited to a home with older children or adults who respect boundaries. They are indoor-only cats. Other cats may be possible with very careful introductions, and they have previously lived with dogs and coped well, particularly calm ones. Their diet must remain consistent, with Royal Canin Gastrointestinal dry food available to graze on, and wet food morning and evening. Busy households with frequent visitors or constant noise would not suit them.

Their bond is not optional. It is how they regulate stress, build confidence and feel safe. Separating them would risk undoing the progress they have worked so hard to achieve.

Mimi and Sassy’s rescue story began in an illegal breeding environment where their needs were neglected. What followed has been a slow and careful rebuilding of trust, confidence and security, something they have managed only because they have had each other throughout.

They are not instant companions. But for the right family, Mimi and Sassy offer something rare and meaningful: a quiet bond, earned slowly, and built to last.
