OJ

Honey-Coated Gentle Hugger

10 months old, neutered male

Available

For adoption anywhere in the UK

OJ’s the kind of kitten who makes strangers smile. He was picked up from the street not because he was bold or scrappy, but because he was so sweet and gentle that someone simply couldn’t walk past him. He looked completely lost out there—no street skills, just a soft, people-loving boy who seemed like he’d been dumped and was waiting for his person to come back.

In his foster home, OJ has proven to be one of the gentlest cats you’ll ever meet. He is extraordinarily patient and has slipped effortlessly into the role of the calm older brother to a lively young kitten. The baby climbs on him, pounces on him, bats his tail, and OJ allows every bit of it with quiet affection. His foster family calls him the definition of patience, kindness and gentle love.

He’s also a sensitive soul, and we believe he has been through something difficult in his past. When he first arrives somewhere new, he hides. Loud rustling, bulky clothes in someone’s hands, or a towel being lifted can frighten him—he freezes, makes himself small, and waits. He never scratches, bites, or reacts aggressively; he simply becomes scared and shuts down. With reassurance and gentleness, he comes out of these moments beautifully. This is why his future home must be calm, understanding, and patient—OJ gives his whole heart, but he needs to feel safe first.

Give him a quiet corner, speak softly, and let him set the pace. Within a few days to a week, he starts to bloom: stepping out with his tail up, exploring, making soft chirps, and asking to be loved. And once he feels comfortable with people and the environment, his playful side comes out with full enthusiasm—he now enjoys toys, gentle games, and interacting with his foster parents in a way that shows how secure he feels.

And his capacity for love is enormous. OJ is very tactile: he leans into chin rubs, melts into cuddles, and follows his humans from room to room. He’s gentle with adults and kind with children—he approaches kids with curiosity and sweetness. But because of his past fear responses, he’ll thrive best with older, very respectful children, or in an adults-only home that lives a calm lifestyle. He would also do wonderfully with a friendly resident cat, as he loves companionship and thrives around gentle feline company.

OJ is thriving indoors and will remain strictly indoor-only—he doesn’t have the instincts for outdoor survival, and he is happiest being safe and loved. What he’ll bring to his family is simple and profound: a loyal, affectionate companion who settles beside you on the sofa, chirps softly for attention, and reminds you daily that the best part of coming home is the warm ginger boy waiting to love you back.

If you’re looking for a gentle friend with a heart as bright as his coat—and you have the patience to let him bloom—OJ is ready for the soft, safe home he has always deserved.
