KIWI

Kiwi is a 2-year-old neutered male tabby who somehow manages to be both a professional cuddle companion and a tiny chaos coordinator after dark. Fully vaccinated, microchipped, FIV/FELV negative and endlessly affectionate, he is the kind of cat who quietly settles himself into your day… and eventually your lap.  

There is something incredibly soulful about Kiwi. He has already experienced several changes in a short space of time, yet through it all he has remained loving, social and deeply people-oriented. One of his favourite things in the world is simply sitting beside a window watching life go by before climbing onto a lap for what his foster lovingly describes as “koala cuddles.”  

Kiwi has lived in both lively and calm households and adapted beautifully to both environments. Before coming into rescue, he lived with a family including children and was surrounded by a busy home environment. Despite the instability he later experienced, he has remained incredibly trusting and affectionate with humans.  

His daily routine is wonderfully simple. Breakfast and dinner are very important business, with a little soup snack before bed of course. Dry food is always available, wet food twice daily and treats are accepted enthusiastically, particularly Dreamies, Churu and anything remotely stinky.  

Kiwi enjoys gentle play and is very interactive with people. He is known for giving playful little nudges or tiny “feed me faster” nips around mealtimes, but these are gentle, playful behaviours that do not break skin.   He also comes with the occasional night-time zoomies package included, because apparently sleep schedules are merely a suggestion in Kiwi’s world.  

One of the loveliest things about Kiwi is how sociable he is. He has shown himself to be friendly with other cats and comfortable around new people. He previously enjoyed supervised outdoor balcony adventures where he would interact with local stray cats, although IBKT will only consider indoor-only homes for his future.    

Kiwi is fully litter trained, uses an open clumping litter tray and settles well into home routines.   He enjoys being held, picked up and occasionally transforms into a part-time lap cat depending on his mood.

Rescue Story

Kiwi’s story is one of resilience and quiet patience. After his original family unexpectedly left Dubai and were unable to return, Kiwi was left in uncertain circumstances and spent much of his time confined to a bathroom with only short moments of freedom outside. A compassionate feeder stepped in and slowly helped him transition into foster care, where his confidence and personality began to flourish again. Since then, Kiwi has adapted through several temporary foster placements with remarkable ease, proving himself to be incredibly loving, adaptable and eager to bond with people.  

Now, what Kiwi truly deserves is stability. A cosy chair by the window. A calm voice calling his name. A lap available when required. And a family who will love him for the affectionate, funny little soul that he is.
