When people think about cat rescue, they often picture the moment an animal is taken off the street.

And while that moment matters, it’s only the beginning.

What happens next is what determines whether that cat will go on to have a stable, permanent home - or end up back in uncertainty.

At Itty Bitty Kitty Tails (IBKT), we focus on that next stage.

Because rescue, on its own, isn’t the outcome. What comes after is what makes it work.

The Gap in Rescue

Across the Middle East, there are individuals doing incredible work rescuing cats every single day.

But there is no single rulebook for how rescue should be done - and more importantly, what should happen next.

Without structure, the challenges are consistent:

  • cats being placed too quickly into unsuitable homes

  • limited understanding of behaviour before rehoming

  • lack of consistency in standards of care

  • difficulty finding the right long-term placements

Rescue can be reactive. And without the right follow-through, outcomes can be uncertain.

Where IBKT Fits In

IBKT exists to bridge that gap.

We work alongside independent rescuers to provide a structured, responsible pathway from rescue through to long-term rehoming - often into homes in the UK.

We are not here to replace rescuers.

We are here to make sure the outcome of that rescue is secure.

We manage the full pathway - ensuring each step is handled properly, consistently, and with the cat’s long-term welfare in mind.

In simple terms, we turn rescue into a result.

Working with Trusted Rescuers

We partner with a small number of independent rescuers across the Middle East.

These are people doing the work on the ground - often in challenging conditions - rescuing and caring for cats that would otherwise go without help.

But not all rescue is the same.

At IBKT, we only work with rescuers we know and trust, and who are aligned with a clear, structured approach to rehoming.

That means:

  • prioritising proper veterinary care

  • avoiding rushed or unsuitable placements

  • placing cats into home environments, not temporary holding

  • taking the time to understand behaviour before rehoming

Where possible, we align our approach with recognised animal welfare principles, including those set out in the UK’s Animal Welfare Act - not as a legal framework, but as a benchmark for responsible care.

Because rescue isn’t just about intention - it’s about doing it properly.

A Structured Approach to Rehoming

At IBKT, structure is what makes rescue sustainable.

We don’t rush placements, and we don’t operate on guesswork.

Instead, we focus on:

  • understanding each cat in a home environment

  • matching based on lifestyle and suitability

  • maintaining transparency throughout the process

There is no fixed timeline. Some cats are ready quickly, others take longer.

But the priority is always the same - a placement that lasts.

Why This Matters

Without structure, rescue can be reactive.

With structure, it becomes sustainable.

That shift is what allows us - and the rescuers we work with - to continue helping more cats, without compromising on welfare or outcomes.

Outcomes Are What Count

Rescue is where the journey starts.

But outcomes are what matter.

A cat is only truly “rescued” when they are placed into a home where they are safe, stable, and there to stay.

Be Part of the Journey

If you’re looking to adopt, foster, or support the work we do, you are part of the process that turns rescue into real, lasting outcomes.

But if you’re a rescuer working on the ground and looking for a structured, responsible pathway to rehome your cats - we’d love to hear from you.

At IBKT, we work with a small number of trusted rescuers who align with our standards and approach to responsible rehoming. If you’re looking for support with rehoming, relocation, and placing cats into the right homes, we’ve developed a clear process to make that possible.
