Meet Kimi. Seven months old, ginger and white and permanently on the go, Kimi is a kitten with a very busy diary. There are toys to chase, corners to investigate and curtains to climb, and if a toy happens to be hidden under the carpet, so much the better.
He may have three legs, but nobody seems to have told him, and he runs, plays and explores with all the confidence in the world. He adores other cats, makes friends in an instant and, once the playing is finally done, comes looking for a cuddle in his cat bed.
A Bit About Kimi
Kimi has spent six weeks in his current care and lives in an active household with five other cats. He joined them readily, mingling and starting to play soon after meeting them. Other cats are a big part of his happiness, and he is looking for a home where he will have a playmate of his own.
He is friendly with people, including strangers, and enjoys seeking out affection after playtime. He likes being picked up but does not enjoy being held, and only rarely chooses a lap. His family will need to enjoy the cuddles he asks for while respecting when he is ready to get moving again.
His Favourite Things
Toys, exploring and playing with other cats are high on Kimi’s list. He likes to investigate every corner and has even included the curtains in his climbing adventures. A home prepared for an inquisitive kitten will give him plenty to enjoy, with safe places to explore and people willing to join the fun.
When it comes to toys, balls, toy mice, plush toys and wand toys all get his full attention. His favourite game of all is hunting for toys hidden under a carpet.
Mealtimes are another pleasure. Kimi is not particularly picky and happily eats a range of brands, including Royal Canin, Purina, Schesir and Sheba. His current routine is three small portions of wet food each day, with dry food available between meals. For treats, Sheba and Licky Licks are firm favourites.
Things to Consider
Kimi can play somewhat roughly and still likes to bite, especially during play. His teething is now almost finished. His bites have not broken the skin, but his new family needs to be comfortable helping an energetic kitten learn gentler play, using toys rather than hands.
He does not like being left alone. When he is, he meows for a while before settling down and adapting, and he has never been left for more than half a day. He will need feline companionship as well as attention from his people. Although he lives in an active home, he is cautious around loud noises and should have somewhere quiet to retreat to.
Medical Information
Kimi is neutered, microchipped and dewormed. He is FIV and FeLV negative. He is not currently taking medication or eating a special diet.
Kimi has three legs. His front left leg was amputated a month ago, and he has made a full recovery. He is fully mobile, needs no special care or medical treatment and does not need any adjustments at home. His behaviour is exactly the same as it was before his surgery.
He uses his litter tray reliably and currently uses open trays with clumping clay litter.
The Ideal Home
Kimi needs an indoor home with at least one friendly cat who enjoys playing, along with people who have time for his lively nature and affectionate moments. His easy start with his current feline companions is encouraging, although introductions in a new home should still move at a pace that suits both cats.
Children: Kimi has met children aged five and seven, and enjoyed playing and cuddling with them. His rough play and play biting still need to be considered when matching him with a family.
Indoor/Outdoor: Indoor only
Other Cats: A home with at least one suitable feline companion is essential. He currently enjoys the company of five cats.
Dogs: His behaviour around dogs is unknown.
People: Friendly and affectionate, including with strangers. He needs people who will respect his handling preferences and make time for play and company.
Food: Not picky, and enjoys Royal Canin, Purina, Schesir and Sheba. He currently receives three small wet meals daily, with dry food available throughout the day. His favourite treats are Sheba and Licky Licks.
Rescue Story
Kimi’s rescuer found him injured in a park, with injuries to his front left leg and paw that meant the leg had to be amputated. He has recovered fully and, remarkably, has not changed one bit: he is the same playful, curious kitten he was before his surgery.
Since then, Kimi has made himself part of a busy household, found friends among five cats and shown just how much he enjoys both play and affection. Now he needs a lasting place in a family, with a feline friend beside him and someone ready for the cuddles when playtime is over.
