Meet Tommy. A cheerful black and white kitten with expressive green eyes, a white signature mark on his nose and the smartest set of white socks, Tommy is a typical Arabian Mau through and through: very active, very playful and happy to run around for hours. Friendly with everyone he meets, he is at his happiest with a feline best friend by his side, and he currently shares his home with an adult cat who is exactly that. Give him a playmate, room to run and plenty of toys, and Tommy will happily take care of the entertainment.
A Bit About Tommy
Tommy has been in his rescuer's care for two and a half months, in a lively household alongside one adult cat. That older cat is his best friend, and Tommy is at his happiest when the two of them are playing together. His rescuer feels he is best suited to living with other cats, so that he always has a play buddy.
With people, Tommy is very friendly, and that includes visitors he has never met. He is happy to be picked up, though he does not like being held, and he is rarely one for sitting on a lap.
His Favourite Things
Running, playing and then a little more running. Tommy can keep going for hours, and a game is always better with his feline best friend involved. Mice, balls and anything else he can chase are his favourite toys.
He is easy to please at mealtimes too. Tommy is not picky and happily eats Royal Canin, Purina and Schesir. He has three smaller portions of wet food a day, and dry food is always on offer. His favourites are Royal Canin kitten food, both wet and dry, and Sheba wet food, while Sheba and Purina wet treats always go down a treat.
Things to Consider
Tommy's play can be on the rough side, especially in games with other cats. When he is playing actively he can nip or bite lightly, and the reported bites have not broken the skin.
He does not like being on his own, which is a big part of why a feline companion matters so much to him. If he is separated from his fellow cat, he lets everyone know with plenty of meowing. Human company is a different matter: he is perfectly content without people around during the day, and the longest he has spent alone is one full day. He is also a little cautious around loud noises.
Medical Information
Tommy is neutered, microchipped and dewormed. With FIV and FeLV negative results. He takes no medication and has no special diet.
His rescuer found him with an eye infection, and his vets succeeded in saving his eye. His right eye is now fully healed with normal vision, and he needs no further treatment or care. A normal annual check up during vaccination is recommended.
His litter habits are reliable, and he uses open trays with clumping clay litter.
The Ideal Home
Tommy's rescuer pictures a home with at least one cat he can play with, enough space for him to run around and plenty of toys. Having grown so close to the adult cat he lives with now, he clearly thrives on feline friendship.
Children: Friendly with children, according to his rescuer, though his play can be a little rough. He has met children aged 8 and 10 and was happy to play with them and enjoy the attention.
Indoor/Outdoor: Indoor only, with enough room to run.
Other Cats: Essential. He needs at least one friendly cat to play with, and he currently lives with an adult cat who is his best friend.
Dogs: Not known.
People: Very friendly, strangers included. He likes being picked up but not held, and is rarely a lap cat.
Food: Not picky. Royal Canin, Purina and Schesir, with three smaller wet meals a day and dry food always available.
Rescue Story
Tommy's story starts in a park, where his rescuer found him with an eye infection. He was rescued in June and spent a month in the clinic, where his eye was treated with drops until he fully recovered, and he came through it all as cheerful and confident as ever. His vets were able to save the eye, and after two and a half months in his rescuer's care, he is a cheerful, playful youngster with a best friend of his own.
The next chapter is a home of his own, ideally one with a playmate waiting, room to run and a good supply of toys.
