WOKYO
Tap Water Fan, People Lover
8 months old, neutered male
Available
For adoption anywhere in the UK
Meet Wokyo. He is a 7 to 8 month old Oriental Shorthair boy with the kind of curiosity that gets a kitten into everything, in the best possible way. Life for him right now is simple and good: play, nap, eat, repeat. He was found in Dubai outside the café that gave him his name, and the vets agreed straight away that he was meant to be a home cat. Almost three months in foster care have shown just how right they were.
Wokyo greets the world head on. He is fearless, trusting and endlessly inquisitive, and he is easy to hold, easy to carry and never bites or scratches, not even a little.
He loves on his own terms, which is very much part of his charm. When he decides it is time for affection, he simply arrives, settles in and gives it back tenfold.
A Bit About Wokyo
Wokyo is fearless in a way that makes his foster smile. Leave the tap running just to see what he does, and he doesn’t hesitate. He goes straight for the water, biting at the stream until his head and paws are soaked through. No flinching, no hiding. Just pure kitten curiosity.
That same trust shows in how he is learning to be handled. His foster works on it gently, first the paws, then the tail, the head and the belly, and Wokyo lets it all happen. He even lets her help him into one big, satisfying stretch, the kind only a completely relaxed cat allows.
When he is awake, he is anything but quiet.
Wokyo is a chatty boy, always ready to talk, chirp and make his opinions known. If you enjoy a cat who joins the conversation, he will happily keep you company.
His Favourite Things
A feather toy sits right at the top of Wokyo’s list. Most of his waking hours are spent off in his own little world, utterly absorbed in chasing it as if it is the most important thing in the universe.
Running water comes a close second, and a dripping tap is an invitation he never refuses. Mealtimes are wonderfully uncomplicated too: he isn’t fussy and happily eats whatever is served.
Laps and naps complete the picture. He hops into a lap uninvited and settles in whenever the mood takes him, and when he wants attention he nudges himself into your hands for pets.
At night he curls up between his foster’s legs, or somewhere close on the blanket, and stays there peacefully, never once waking anyone.
Things to Consider
Wokyo is a young kitten in full swing, and play is the main event of his day. He suits someone who enjoys a busy, inquisitive companion and is happy to keep the feather toy moving.
Affection comes on his schedule. Cuddles make up only around 10% of his waking hours, so he is ideal for a person who is happy to let him come to them rather than wanting a cat to hold all day. When he does choose your lap, it is well worth the wait.
No particular fears have been noted. Wokyo is a confident boy who takes new things in his stride. He has not yet lived with other cats or dogs, so any introduction should be gradual, carefully managed and treated as a trial.
Medical Information
Wokyo is healthy, FIV and FeLV negative, vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and dewormed.
He is not taking any medication and needs no special diet. He uses his litter tray reliably, like clockwork.
The Ideal Home
Wokyo needs an active, loving home that enjoys a curious, talkative kitten as much as he enjoys exploring. Plenty of play, a feather toy within reach and a warm lap for when the mood takes him are all he asks. Give him the freedom to choose his moments, and he rewards it with trust, chatter and the most peaceful company at night.
Children: Children aged 10 and over. Wokyo is social and loving, so he will fit right into family life.
Indoor/Outdoor: Indoor only, or indoors with access to a fully secure catio.
Other Cats: Not yet tested. A home with a resident cat may be considered as a trial, with slow and careful introductions.
Dogs: Not yet tested. A home with a dog may be considered as a trial, with slow and careful introductions.
People: Trusting and easy to handle, he lets his foster touch his paws, tail, head and belly without fuss. Social and loving by nature, he suits people who let him decide when it is time to cuddle.
Food: Not fussy at all. He eats whatever is served.
Rescue Story
Wokyo was found in Dubai outside a café called Wokyo, which is exactly how he got his name. He was asking anyone who passed for food, and even then he was extremely friendly, greeting people with the same easy trust he shows today.
He was picked up to be neutered and returned, but it quickly became clear that the street was no place for him. The vets agreed he was meant to be a home cat and asked that he not be sent back. So he wasn’t.
Instead, he went into foster care, where his days are simple and good: play, nap, eat, repeat. His foster has been gently working on handling, and he has met every step with trust.
Wokyo is not looking for a home that needs a lap cat around the clock. He is looking for one that enjoys his chatter, keeps the feather toy moving and has a warm spot on the blanket ready for whenever he chooses it. Given that, he asks for love when he is ready to give it back tenfold.
